Affidavit for Pan Deletion in case of Double PAN allotted

It has been observed that in some cases, multiple PANs (more than one) has been allotted to an individual by the income tax department. It happens due to multiple applications made by an individual for allotment of PAN using different documents. Sometimes, due to unawareness or clerical error, individuals already having PAN –  Apply for new PAN while they are required to apply for Correction in their existing PAN.

In such cases when an individual has been allotted more then one PAN, he/she has to retain only one PAN and surrender the other/s (as per income tax laws). To surrender the extra PAN, an individual has to produce an affidavit along-with the “PAN to be deleted” to his AO (Assessing Officer).

I, PREM PRAKASH CHAURASIYA, aged about 51 years, S/o- Fanindra Prasad Chaurasiya, permanent resident of Block Road, Ward No. 18, Sainik Road, P.O. & P.S.- Raxaul, District- East Champaran, Bihar-845305, presently residing at Block Road, Ward No. 18, Sainik Road, P.O. & P.S.- Raxaul, District- East Champaran, Bihar-845305, Aadhar No. – 2333 0000 1234 do hereby solemnly affirm and sheweth following:

  1. That I have been allotted Two (2) Permanent Account Numbers (PAN) by the Income Tax Department and PANs ABCPS9796L and DEFPS5341E.
  2. That I want to retain my OLD Pan FCGPS9796L for income tax purposes and for all other purposes.
  3. That I want to get New Pan DEFPS5341E deleted with immediate effect and also de-link from my Aadhar.
  4. That PAN DEFPS5341E which is applied for deletion has never been used for any type of financial transaction from the date of allotment of this PAN.
  5. That none of my bank account is linked with this PAN.
  6. That I have never utilized the PAN DEFPS5341E for any lawful purpose.
  7. That this affidavit has been sheweth to the best of my knowledge and belief.
  8. That in case of any breach of above-mentioned declaration I am liable for penalty under the income tax act or any other law enforced in our country.
